"The MRes in Business and Management brings together students from across the Business School, allowing opportunities for people to talk about their research ideas and experiences. I would recommend this course for anyone working in a research capacity, whether in an academic environment or in industry."

Research Methodology in Business & Management

Business School Phd Candidate

The Master in Research Methodology in Business and Management (MRes) has been developed in response to growing demand by professions and academics for high-quality research traning. It can be taken as a stand-alone qualification or as a foundation course for a PhD in business and Management.

The course draws on the wide range of expertise that exists across the Faculty and, where necessary, from other universities. By bringing together academics and professionals from a range of subject areas and a variety of cultures, the course provides a stimulating environment in wich to develop traditional and innovative research competencies.

Professionals involved in generating or analysing knowledge in public, private or voluntary sectors are increasingly recognised as valuable assets and the source of advanced management expertise and innovations in business processes. The MRes is also increasingly important as the prerequisite qualification for students wishing to undertake a Doctorate .

The course corresponds with guidelines from the funding councils (ESRC) and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for research education. As such, it provides the highest standard of training to researchers and professionals in business and management.

Students develop competencies across the spectrum of research methods, balancing the acquisition of specialist knowledge with the ability to apply a range of research techniques in a practical environment.
